Google Search Application is the third S60 application from Google. The previous two applications were Google Maps and GMail. What does Google Search App do? It adds a shortcut, i.e. Pencil key (a.k.a. Edit key) on your idle screen. When you press the shortcut, it launches a window where you can do search using Google.

(or use Bar Code application and scan the code below)

The only problem with this application is that it supports Pencil key only as shortcut. Many S60 devices nowadays don’t have this key any more. I’ll discuss more on how to use Google Search without Pencil key in the next posting.

Another cool free application from Nokia Beta Labs…. Didn’t I feature four applications from Nokia Beta Labs recently? Well, you should just subscribe to Nokia Beta Labs blog; so that I don’t need to feature applications from Nokia Beta Labs any more. :)

Anyway, the new application is called Nokia PC Phone. It allows you to use your PC (Web browser) to make a phone call, type text message and manage contacts. The current version supports Firefox 2.x. Support to other browsers, such as Internet Explorer 7, should come soon.

Personally, I like Messages feature a lot. It saves our time when typing text message. No need to struggle with T9 keypad.

I don’t really use the other two features, Calls and Contacts. I normally use Speed Dial application to make a phone call. For contacts, I normally edit my contact in Microsoft Outlook.

One product that was released this week at Nokia World 2007 in Amsterdam is Nokia Internet Radio. As its name implies, Nokia Internet Radio allows you to stream Internet radio to your device.

Be aware that it uses data connection. If you don’t have WiFi connection or flat-rate data plan, do NOT use this application. You don’t want to receive $3K on your phone bill, do you? :)

Nokia Internet Radio is not the same as Internet Radio Client, an open source project released by Nokia quite some time ago. I guess Nokia Internet Radio is the next generation of Internet Radio Client that will be branded under Ovi.
