First of all, sorry for the lack of update on this blog recently.

As you may know, I maintain this blog during my spare time only. Unfortunately, I have been very busy in the last couple of weeks. I was looking for a new job. I have decided to resign from my current company. My last working day would be beginning of next month.

What is going to happen to this blog after I quit? I will be trying to keep this blog alive although my new job will most probably not be related to S60. That’s all I can say for now.

It’s been a while since my last posting here at S60Tips.com. Many of you may be wondering; where have I been lately? Am I still blogging? Short answer: I have been busy with many other things; so this blog was quite last month.

Here is the list of some “other things” that kept me very busy after office hours:

I was involved in the development of Nokia Location Tagger. This application is now available at Nokia Beta Labs. If you have N95 or N82 and haven’t tried this application, give it a try. Please leave your comments to my blog posting at Nokia Beta Labs.

I was busy updating my open source project, Screenshot for Symbian OS. There have been requests from many users about adding shortcuts that don’t use <Edit> key (a.k.a. <Pencil> key). I added a new shortcut, <#>+<*>, in the latest version. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. For more information about the detail technical problem, please see my posting at Forum Nokia Blogs.

Last but not least: finishing my book. The book is now still under review and it will go to the final editing soon. Unfortunately, I couldn’t disclose the title of the book yet.

There is actually one more thing, i.e. watching the stock market falling down in the first 3 weeks of January… just kidding.

Anyway, I should have more free time now and keeps updating this blog again. So, stay tune!

Today (October 15), bloggers around the web unite to put a single important issues on everyone’s mind – the environment. The aim is to save our planet for a better future.

As mobile phone users, what can we do to save our planet?

Don’t leave chargers plugged in. After charging your device, remove it from the electric socket. Unfortunately there is no chargers for S60 devices that support automatic on/off switch (or is there one?)

Recycle old devices. Some manufacturers have initiatives of taking back devices from their customers for recycling. See some links at the end of this blog.

Let your PC gets some sleep. Turn your PC on only when you need it.

If you are interested to find out more information about energy saving actions, please download a free booklet from Greenpeace, How to Save the Climate.

S60Tips.com was down for a couple of hours today.

Here is the story: I want to delete one of my site from GoDaddy.com‘s control panel. Unfortunately, I made a big mistake. Instead of deleting that particular site, I DELETED S60TIPS.COM FROM MY ACOUNT! Such an idiot….

I was in a panic mode for a couple of seconds. Then I realize that my blog has gone… I called GoDaddy.com customer service; hoping that they can recover my database. They said that they can try to recover from their backup system. It would cost $150, which is expensive; worse there is no guarantee that they can fully recover my database. If I am lucky, they can recover the backup from last month.

Well, since the option from GoDaddy.com was not that good, I decided to restore my own backup, which is a few months old already.

That’s why; I want to say sorry to you. Some of your comments in the last 3 months may have been deleted. Some postings from June – July 2007 may also have gone. I’ll try to re-write some of them in the next couple of days.

(Picture is courtesy of stock.xchng.)

Update (07-Sep-2007): Thanks to abhista who has provided me with the offline contents of my blogs. If you see my old postings re-appear in your feed reader; that’s because I re-posted them.

For those who have read my previous posting, Widsets Revisited, please ignore the posting. Somehow, I got confused between S60 Widgets and Widsets. I thought S60 Widgets would be the enhancement of Widsets. I was confused with the following statement on the official Nokia’s press release.

Web Run-Time and widget support will be available to S60 licensees as part of the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2. Tools, documentation and a software developer kit for widget development will be made available via Forum Nokia during the third quarter 2007. Widgets will be distributed to users through several channels, one of which is WidSets, a popular consumer Internet service, which allows users to personalize their mobile Internet experience.

I got more confused because at the same day Nokia announced Beta Labs, and guess what… one of the applications featured there is Widsets. That’s why, I don’t why my brain thought this would be the next S60 Widgets.

Anyway, I have updated the posting. Sorry for the confusion.

<strike>I would like to thank to the developer team of PhpBB, who has created a bulletin board engine used on Forum.S60Tips.com. Keep the good work.</strike>

Update (12-Sep-2007): I have decided not to maintain S60Tips.com Forum any longer. I found this blog attracts more people than the forum itself.
