Robert Scoble has just compared Taptu versus Google for mobile search. Surprisingly, in some cases, Taptu is better than Google. Taptu works best for music and “fact finding” searches. It searches videos and web pages as well.

You can visit the mobile version of Taptu by visiting

http://www.taptu.mobi.

What makes Taptu better than Google for mobile search? Robert showed the result of music search on his video podcast. Here is another example. The following screenshots show the search result of “norah jones” on Google.

And there is the result on Taptu.

As you can see, the result of Taptu gives the picture of the singer as well as some links the sample songs from YouTube.

Once again, Nokia Beta Labs released a nice application, Audio Books. This application allows us to play audio book stored in AMR-WB, which is codec optimized for speech.

Where can we get audio books?

  • Firstly, you can download some sample files from Nokia Beta Labs.
  • You can convert your current audio books (if you have ones) from CD or other digital formats, such MP3 and WAV. Nokia has released a tool to convert audio books, called Nokia Audiobook Manager. You can download it from the same link below.
  • There are many public domain audio books available at LibriVox.
