Today, I read an announcement from Jukka Eklund, one of the S60 bloggers. The announcement is about Mobile Web Server. What is it all about? As its name implies, Mobile Web Server is a Web server running on our S60 device. Okay… what makes this Web server is so fantastic?
Imagine that you have a web server running on your device. Now, you open your Web browser on your PC and connect to the web browser. What can you do with that? Many things… the sky is the limit. Here are some examples what you can do using Mobile Web Server:
Taking picture from your camera
Retrieving contacts from your device’s phone book
Sending SMS from the Web
Accessing your Gallery on the device
There are some more features of Mobile Web Server. It’s better if you try it yourself. It’s really cool.
Please visit https://secure.mymobilesite.net/ to register and download Mobile Web Server

Erm, yeah that’s really great but can’t I do all those things on my phone already without the overhead of a web browser? Come on, lets have a useful suggestion?

@Reclusive Monkey: What do you mean by “without overhead of web browser”? Do you mean a standalone Windows application on the PC? IMO, that may not be preferable because we will be bound to a certain operating system. By having Web browser, we can access it from any operating systems (PC, Mac, Linux, …).

In my honest opinion this site is great.. it is wonderful..!
And I think Pranata is right that the browser application is a good idea than a standalone application, you need not to download the application or to install the application, platform independent..!

Thanks for your comments and Antony for the post! The thing is still very much in beta, so all kinds of suggestions are very welcome.

@Jukka: Even it is still in beta; but it is already in a good shape.
