There are some IM (Instant Messaging) applications for S60 already. There is EQO Mobile, a free VoIP application that supports IM. There are some commercial IM applications as well, such as Agile Messenger and IM+.
Palringo is a free IM application. It is available in several platforms, which includes S60 3rd Edition. Palringo supports all popular IM services, including Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and Jabber.
If you don’t want to spend money on your IM application, I highly recommend Palringo.
