Nokia has just released Nokia Video Manager, a PC application that allows u to transfer videos from PC to our phone. Currently it supports a limited number of devices only, as indicated in the web site, i.e. Nokia 6110 Navigator, Nokia 6290, Nokia 5700 XpressMusic phones.
Unfortunately, I don’t have those devices; so I couldn’t try this application. I have tried to convert some video files to my Nokia N73 and E61. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. The converted videos cannot be played; RealPlayer only plays the audio only. Anyone has luck converting videos to Nokia Nseries or Eseries?
If you have the same problem as me, I have another suggestion to convert and play videos on our S60 phones, i.e. using SUPER application? Here are some of my old postings that discusses SUPER.
- Converting Your Videos to RealPlayer. It shows how to convert your video to be played on RealPlayer.
- Converting Your Movies to DivX Player for S60. It shows how to convert your videos to be played on DivX Player for Mobile.

Viewing the properties of a converted video file, I can see that the file uses the H.264 video codec.
According to http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/resources/technologies/audiovideo/av_features/FN_vid_table.html , not all phones support that codec. It is supported only on some S60 3rd ed. phones and all S60 3rd ed. Feature Pack 1 phones. (The officially supported phones, 6110 Navigator, 6290 and 5700 XpressMusic, are all S60 3rd ed. FP1.) And different phones have different maximum allowed bitrates. Perhaps the converted files have so high bitrates that they can only be played with the newest S60 3rd ed. FP1 phones?

On the other hand, in the Tools -> Settings menu there is the option to adjust the quality of the converted video. Perhaps selecting a lower quality setting (= presumably lower bitrate instead of smaller resolution) will make it possible to play on all phones that support H.264?

@Sebastian: I have tried to select the lowest quality and the result is even worse. Each time I play the video, the phone reboots.

First, any .AVI movie (converted by SmartMovie), can\’t be played by Nokia Video Manager. It requires codec.
Second, after installing K-Lite Codec Pack, now the converted movie by SmartMovie can be played.
Third, I\’ve a simple .WMV movie. When I try to transfer this movie to my Nokia N70 from NVM, I just can hear the sound. The screen is black. NVM converts this movie to be .MP4 video format.
What should I do?

@rulirahm: I haven’t managed to play any videos converted by Nokia Video Manager on my N73 and E61 until today. It looks like only a few phones support codec that is used by NVM.
