I am pretty sure that all of you have heard about blog (otherwise you won’t read this). The concept of Jaiku is similar to blog, which is online diary. You can write your activities using your phone, in this case S60 device. Your friends can read about your activities from their phones too. Furthermore, Jaiku allows you to put a badge on your blog or web site so that your friends can read them from PC.
Jaiku’s main goal is to bring people closer together by enabling them to share their presence. For us, presence is about everyday things as they happen - what you’re up to, how you’re feeling, where you’re going. We offer a way to connect with the people you care about by sharing presence updates with them on the Web and mobile.
The screenshot below shows the user interface of Jaiku. As you can see my current activity now is “Playing with Jaiku in Canada“. You can also see the status of my friends, for example the mobile diva Darla Mack.
You may ask, what is the difference between blog and Jaiku? In many areas, they are actually the same. Posting your activities to Jaiku is the same as writing a new posting to your blog. Reading your friends’ activities is the same as pulling your friend’s feed. What is the difference then? One difference is the fact that Jaiku is mostly to write small postings. You don’t want to write one blog posting very often to your blog, do you?
If you are interested to see how Jaiku looks like, feel free to visit my Jaiku at http://antonypranata.jaiku.com/.

I like Jaiku, but cannot enjoy its full potential, because flat-rate GPRS plan is not very common in Hong Kong. I am using one, but none of my friends / family members do.
Btw, another useful feature of Jaiku is you can know whether your friend is busy before you call them.

@alanine: Yes, it’s true that data-rate plan is recommended. I am also surprise that Jaiku cannot recognize WiFi as connection. That’s why I have to always use operator connection. Hope they add WiFi support in the future.

It looks like twitter to me. You don\’t have to install any 3rd party with twitter. You can sms a number.

@William: Exactly, it is very similar to twitter.

@William: Actually you can also use SMS to set the message in Jaiku. There is a number that they provide for this purpose.
