Yesterday, I made two upgrades to my blog. The first upgrade was a minor one, which is upgrading the publishing platform from WordPress 2.1 to 2.1.1. The second upgrade was a major one, which is upgrading the database engine from MySQL 4.0 to 5.0. The upgrade process went smoothly.

MySQL WordPress

Another thing that I want to mention here is about a problem that happened to my blog in the last couple of weeks. My blog’s server quite often returned “500 Internal Server” error message. I didn’t know what caused this problem. I have tried to optimize WordPress by using wp-cache, but it didn’t help. I thought it could be because of my MySQL’s server was overloaded already. Yesterday, while upgrading MySQL, I switched to another server too. It looks like the 500 error has gone now. At least, I don’t see it any more in the last 16 hours.

Please let me know if you find a problem with my new engines.
