You all are facing multiple issues.
The main one is that there is no real definite standard, just yet.
I\’ve been working on this for weeks.
Issue 1: Your machine\’s (PC or mac) music player doesn\’t export the MP3 to your phone the same way and also behaves differently with the album art.
Issue 2: Nokia\’s Music Player on your phone is bugged when it comes to MP3 tags.

IMHO: embed the art into each individual tracks using a 3rd party tool (plenty of them out there- I use MP3Tag Tools)
Delete all irrelevant tags (ie: composer, comments, etc…) You need to do so because Nokia\’s Music Player is bugged and will not parse those properly.
THEN, and only then can you sync/export to your phone.

Mac users use this little program: “Coverseverywhere” to be found here: http://code.google.com/p/coverseverywhere/

It will convert any iTunes albumart Mp3 such that the album art is seen by almost any player, including Nokia Symbian phones like the N78 N97 and more.

Just point it at the iTunes music files or directories you want to convert (this could be your whole library!) and it shows up on your Nokia. Ofcourse you have to reload your music to your phone. On Mac’s this is easiest done troug Nokia’s Multimedia Transfer program. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/nokiamultimediatransfer.html

You must have the album art allready embedded in your Mp3′s for this to work.
In iTunes this means copying the albumart from any source and opening the album or track with “Command-I” or right clicking on “Info”. Then you paste the art into the illustration window.

This little program is a small gem. Works like a charm!

@sarah I coded an application for Mac OS X that can automatically convert the covers of your mp3s so that they show up in iTunes, WMP and Nokia devices.
Its call Covers Everywhere and its open source, so you can download it for free from http://code.google.com/p/coverseverywhere/

I did it for myself but i thought that others might use it too. Hope it helps you.

media player 10/11 and media monkey show the album art. so what resolution does it have to be?

@mahal: You said it shows on the media player on your PC. Which media player is that? Is it Media Monkey or different player?

Note that album art from Windows Media Player and iTunes cannot be displayed on Nokia N73 ME.

I got the newest firmware and I know album art is supported as a default track came with it named stave I think. What resolution does it have to be?

@mahal: What is your firmware? I don’t know what cause the problem. Most probably because the version that you have doesn’t support album art yet.
