The new version of Opera Mini 3.0 has just been released. One feature that I like about Opera Mini is compression technology. Instead of downloading full web page, Opera uses a transcoding server to “compress” the web pages. What does mean?
- We don’t need to download the full web page. It does matter if we don’t have unlimited data rate plan.
- You can load web pages faster.
Another feature that I like about Opera Mini is that it renders web page so that we don’t need to do horizontal scrolling. It is very convenient because we need to worry about scroll up and scroll down only.
Note that Opera Mini is not the same as Opera Mobile. I was confused at the beginning because there are different versions of Opera for mobile phones. Opera Mobile is a free web browser and it is Java-based application. Opera Mobile, on the other side, is a commercial (not free) and it is a native application.

“Opera Mobile, on the other side, is a commercial (not free) and it is a native application.”
Since when, regarding either point?

@Bjorn: What do you mean by “since when”? The commercial one? I thought it was since beginning. At least, they sell Opera Mobile for USD 24 now (http://www.opera.com/buy/?show=mobile).
