Featured Freeware - Screenshot for Symbian OS (S60)
Posted by Antony Pranata under Featured FreewareIt might not be really fair to feature my own application. However, I have been thinking that it is worth to mention this application in the Featured Freeware section. Why? Because all the screenshots at this site (S60Tips.com) are taken using this application. Besides that, the new version has just been released.
What does Screenshot for Symbian OS (S60) do? As the name implies, it is used to capture screenshots on your S60 phones. Currently it supports almost all S60 phones, including Nokia N-Series and E-Series, but except Nokia N92 .
Capturing the screenshot can be done by pressing a shortcut. By the default, the shortcut is Edit+OK keys. The Edit key is sometimes called Pencil key or ABC key. On Nokia E61, it is the Shift key. The OK key is the center of the joystick.

Compatible devices: S60 1st, 2nd, 3rd Edition, Nokia Nseries, Nokia Eseries.
Update (27-Feb-07): Screenshot for Symbian is officially launched as an open source project.

@agwe32: Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I don’t have Nokia E61, so I have to borrow it again from someone to test. What is the latest firmware you have there?

I have just upgraded my Nokia E70\’s firmware to \’2.0618.07.10\’ dated 31-08-06 (Nokia E70 RM-10). After that I had to reinstall Screenshot (this time only version 2.45 was available). Unfortunately none of the menu items works now. Help me with a solution!

@Ariyan: Could you please do me a favor testing Screenshot v2.30 in your new firmware? The old version is actually still available in my web site, http://www.antonypranata.com/screenshot/download/screenshot_s60_3rd_2.30.sis
Let me know the result.

Thanks, it works like a charm. Thanks for the link too. I could not find the older version for 3rd edition.
November 16th, 2006 at 8:26 pm
So you’re saying that the old version (2.30) works in your E70 while the new version (2.45) doesn’t work?
November 18th, 2006 at 5:52 am
That’s right. I’m using ver 2.30 without any problem. Ver 2.45 does not work.

@Ariyan: Thanks for the info. I will try to track what’s happening in that particular E70’s firmware.
