How much will this add to your monthly bill?

@Alexandre: I depends on your usage. You can monitor the traffic using Connection Manager application. There you can see how many KBs you have downloaded/uploaded.
Honestly, I rarely use Google Maps using GPRS because it is quite expensive here in Canada. Usually I just use WiFi (of course, your phone must support WiFi).

I’m from the UK and I was looking into it downloading Google Maps. I noticed that Google Maps is currently only for the US/Canada.

@VJ: You’re right. According to Google Maps’ FAQ, it is currently available in some countries only:
Does Google Maps work everywhere?
Not yet. Google Maps is currently available in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the US. We’re working to increase its availability as soon as possible.

It works fine for me in the UK (maybe FAQ is out of date)?

@alistairj: Yes, it could that the FAQ is not up to date. Unfortunately I don’t have the latest information which countries are supported by Google Maps for Mobile. I think Google should update us the latest information about this issue.

if you use wifi instead of GPRS, it shouldn’t incur any charges on the monthly phone bill. right?

@Patrick: Of yes, you don’t need to pay your operator for WiFi access. However, you still need to pay your Internet provider…

@prasath: You have to use your phone’s browser to visit http://www.google.com/gmm. There should be a link to download Google Maps for Mobile from that page. As far as I know, it is not possible to download it from the PC.
