How do you usually switch between Normal (General) and Silent profile? These two profiles are probably the most used ones, so it is likely that we switch between them very often.

There are several ways you can switch between Normal and Silent mode, i.e.:

  • The easiest way is, of course, press Power key and select the profile using Up and/or Down key then press OK key.

  • Another way is to use Power button only. Firstly, press Power key once to bring up the list of profiles. Secondly, press Power key again (several times) to select the profile you want to activate. Finally, press and hold Power key for about 1 second to activate the selected profile.

  • Some S60 3rd Edition phones introduce new features that allow us to switch Normal and Silent faster. Go to the idle screen. Idle screen is the screen where you see your wallpaper. Then press and hold # key for about 1 second. If your current profile is Normal, it will be switched to Silent; and vice versa, if your current profile is Silent, it will be switched to Normal.

Update (07-June-2006): Thanks to Steve for clarifying hash tip. It seems this feature was included in some S60 phones, but then it is removed in the latest phones.
