I just noticed today that we can launch Web browser in S60 phones by pressing and holding 0 key. Note that Web browser application is usually called Services application in most S60 phones.I find this feature very useful because we don’t need to go to the main menu and look for browser application. The only feature that I am missing here is customization. It is not possible to change 0 key to launch other browsers, such as S60 Opera or OSS Browser.

Damn the Nokia Manual makers!!!
I really feel that I’ve been cheated really badly. It’s not that these tiny devices would be too convenient to use anyway. And Nokia’s managed to hold to itself almost all the shortcuts that make use of the device soooo much easier. It really sucks.
I mean, I’m a geek, a guy who goes through all options to figure out how things work. And I bumped into these shortcuts (pressing number long to add 1 number, pressing # to change to number mode, image turning & zooming shortcuts, etc). The killer was copy-paste. I’ve *so* many times wanted copy-paste that I could’ve ripped somebody’s head off at the User Guide makers section if I would’ve had the chance when I found out just now, 3 years into using S60 about the feature!
Why piss off people over an issue like this?

Ah. Well, if you hadn’t bumped into my ebook, “Nokia Smartphones for Beginners”…..

One of the sections early on shows how to save time by copying and pasting text!

@Aijoovai: Actually you can also find some of the tips from the users guide. Sometimes, it is not so obvious because they are hidden somewhere.
About copy and paste, there is also a guide in this site at http://www.s60tips.com/2006/04/15/copy-and-paste/.

Hehh, this feature has been available for, err, at least 5 years.
And you’ll be able to launch OSS Browser with 0 as soon as it replaces the old built-in browser.

@tote: Interesting… I thought the first S60 device in the world is Nokia 7650, which was released 4 years ago.
Anyway, you’re right. Poor me because I just knew this trick a couple of weeks ago.

You’re right, Antony. And I meant the implementation (and THAT is at least 5 years old:), because we did it. Cheers.
