Pressing C does not kill the application, just tries to exit it. If the application actually have frozen, it won't be killed this way.

@Jago - You can do the same. The 'Menu' button is the white button between the red and green buttons in your Nokia 5800.

What if you use an S60 5th edition like 5800? There is not that menu key in the numeric keyborad (as far as I know), you can only see running applications throug Menu - Options - Show open apps.
What if I want to kill an app in my 5800?

Oh yes, I have that tip in my old blog, http://mobile.antonypranata.com/2006/02/17/switching-between-general-and-silent-profile/.
I will transfer the tip to my new blog. I think it is useful for most of us too.... :)

Indeed, there's a way for one-button navigation in the list.

1. Press and hold Menu key to bring the list
2. Each Menu keypress will jump to the next item in the list, and eventually rotates to first item upon reaching the end
3. Press and hold Menu key again to switch to the desired application

PS. Did you already have a post about what happens (on some later S60 devices) when you press and hold #-key in the idle screen? ;)
