FExplorer is a file explorer application for S60 phones, similar to Windows Explorer. It allows you to browse file system of your S60 phones and do many file operations. Although there is a built-in file manager in S60 phones, you can’t do much with it. This file explorer is a must-have for any S60 phone users.

I tried to install this, unsuccessfully on my Vodafone Japan Nokia 6680. The following message came up – (and yes I have allowed software installation etc.) any ideas why?

Installation security error! Unable to install.

This also comes up when trying to install other software.

Yes, I have heard this issue in Vodafone Japan. It seems they don’t allow any third-party installation.
As far as I know, there is a work-around for this. One of my freeware users say that he can install using a tool, called ese_unsis.exe. Just google for “ese_unsis.exe” and you will find a download link to the tool (most of the pages are Japanese, so I couldn’t verify it).

Doesn’t work on a E61. Won’t install, even if all install restrictions are lifted.

Yes, it’s true that FExplorer is still not working in any S60 3rd Edition phones, including E61. Let’s hope that Dominique Hugo, the developer of FExplorer, will release a new version soon.
Meanwhile, you can use SExplore (http://simonjudge.com/symbianseries603rdfreeware.html).

The SExplore doesnot install. It says the file is corrupt. Does anyone know a good link for this application.

I\’m unable to install Fexplorer on my Nokia E62. It gives following error:
1. FExplorer_english_117.Sis not supported
2. fexplorer-with-password-protection.Sis not supported

@Sanjog: Your phone, E62, is a S60 3rd Edition phone. You need to download FExplorer for S60 3rd Edition. The one that you downloaded is most probably for the previous version.

@Sanjog: The error message means that you’re trying to install unsigned application. You need to sign it before you can install the application. To make your life easier, you can try another file manager, called Y-Browser. It is already signed by the developers. Thanks for the suggestion. But I\’m looking for such an explorer, in which I can protect my SMS, files, applications, etc. by setting passwords… Please suggest any such application. Coz Y-browser does not have password protection facilty..
