There are some useful secret codes for Nokia S60’s phones to get system information, such as IMEI and software version. To enter theses codes, the phone must be in the idle screen (not in the menu screen). What is idle screen? This is the screen where you see the operator name, date, time, battery level, signal strength and some other stuff. You can switch between idle screen and menu screen using Menu key (
).
*#0000# - Display the software version, the date when the software was built and the phone model. In some cases, the phone model is not the one used by marketing. It is the internal model used inside Nokia. For example, RM-36 is the internal name of Nokia 6680.

*#06# - Display IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identify) of your phone.

*#2820# (*#BTA0#) - Display the Bluetooth device address of your phone.

*#62209526# (*#MAC0WLAN) - Display the MAC address of the WLAN adapter. This is available only in the newer devices that support WLAN

*#7370# (*#RES0#)- Reset your phone to the default factory settings. Usually you will need this code when you want to reset your phone back to the same condition when you got it for the first time. When the phone ask for security code, the default one is 12345.
Warning: Before you do reset the phone, make sure that you don’t have important data. Your data on the phone memory will be lost once you reset it.

Update (11-Aug-06): I have added some more secret codes at this new posting.
April 20th, 2006 at 8:07 am
I’ve noticed that you’ve posted in the firmware version tip a screenshot of a N80 firmware, but my brand new N80 isn’t exactly the same, and I don’t mean firmware version but kind of devide for example.
Yours is
V 3.0614.0.2
06-04-2006
RM-91
Nokia N80 (21)
And mine is
V 3.0614.0.1
31-03-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (01)
Why is your internal name (RM-91) different that mine (RM-92)? and what does the number after N80 means (your (21) and my (01)?
Thanks. And also nice new site… it’s in my bloglines since day 1
April 20th, 2006 at 8:12 am
I think RM-91 and RM-92 is different variant from different region. It could be RM-91 is for North American market (I live in North America currently). Where do you live?
About the number (21) and (01), that is a very good question. I have no idea.
April 20th, 2006 at 9:08 am
I live in Spain, so perhaps you’re correct. Now the number is what we have to guess xDD
And also you can see here http://www.s60.com/?action=showNewsArticle&newsId=241&archive=true&hot=1&c_id=10&pbId=64 that Series 60 3rd edition is supossed to have an application called Navigator as they say in the las phrase to manage BT GPS units but I can’t find this app in my phone. Does yours have it?
April 20th, 2006 at 2:26 pm
I never seen this application. Unfortunately the press release does not indicate in which S60 phones this application is (will be) shipped either. I have no clue for now.
April 22nd, 2006 at 3:21 am
Some of the codes are also words
typing…
*#BTA0# (for bluetooth address) gives *#2820#
*#MAC(space)WLAN# gives *#62209526#
*#RES0# gives *#7370#
April 22nd, 2006 at 6:55 am
Morten, thanks for the additional info. In fact, if we look at T9 keypad, “B” = “2″, “T” = “8″, etc.
Btw, how did you manage to type alphabet in the idle screen? When I press a key in the idle screen, I always get number (no alphabet).

Hello Dear Sir My Mobile Is Not Workink He Is Loucked I Don’t Now What’s Up Prablem In My Mobile Set He Is Loucked On A Pin Code And I Don’t Now Has Pin Code.

April 26th, 2006 at 6:53 pm
If you lost your PIN code, try to find your PUK code. Usually it is written in the “welcome” package from your operator. If you don’t have it, just contact your operator. Hope they can unlock it for you.
May 1st, 2006 at 7:04 am
A little tip:
The screenshots shows wrong code: *#0000*
Should be as you mention in the text: *#0000#
Made me a little confused
May 2nd, 2006 at 7:08 am
@Nda: Thanks for the correction. I have corrected it.
May 9th, 2006 at 5:52 am
A little more about the software version, mine says:
V 3.0614.0.3
11-04-2006
RM-92
nokia N80 (58.01)
I live in the UK, got my phone a few days ago.
Thanks for how to find out the mac address btw
May 12th, 2006 at 6:02 pm
Hi, I’m considering an N80 with the following firmware:
V 3.0614.0.1 31-03-2006 RM-92 Nokia N80 (08)
I live in New York. Does anyone know from the firmware # whether or not the phone will function with voice and EDGE/UMTS 1900 data?
Thanks!
May 17th, 2006 at 6:41 am
when i restore my phone with *#7370# .it not clean all the phone.can you give me some another code
May 18th, 2006 at 4:27 pm
@east: If *#7370# doesn’t clean all your data, try to use the following tip: “press Call key + * + 3 + power button for a couple of seconds. Note that you have to press the four keys at the same time, otherwise it won’t work.”
It works with some S60 phones.
May 22nd, 2006 at 6:30 pm
there is one more for the lifetimer:
*#92702689#
it short *#war(space)anty# i.e. warranty
May 23rd, 2006 at 10:50 am
@chetan: Thanks for the useful additional code. Btw, do you know how to interpret the result of this code? I have something like “Life timer: 000000:02″.
May 28th, 2006 at 1:54 am
Hi Antony,
is there any code or software by which i can find out the battery level in percentage remaining on the s60 phone?
My device is an E 61 device, OS vs 9.x.
a quick reply will be very welcome.
Oh btw i also have lots of cheat codes for nokia fones, and i would love to share them.
but i need this info desperately.
thnx in advance
h
May 28th, 2006 at 10:01 am
@lalit: Do you mean finding out battery level programmatically? There is a function CTelephony::GetBatteryInfo() in Symbian C++ that you can use to retrieve the percentage of battery charge level. There is even a code example at Symbian’s web site, http://www.symbian.com/Developer/techlib/v9.1docs/doc_source/guide/Telephony-subsystem-guide/N1013A/info_phone.html#guide%2esimpletelephony%2eBattery.
I would love to publish more cheat codes for Nokia phones. It would be nice if you could share it with all of us here.

June 24th, 2006 at 1:07 pm
i notice you have RM-91, my PHONE is RM91 but the software on it, is RM92, any chance of ripping your software somehow and posting it somewhere? I think the cause of the FEW issues im having is because I dont have correct version of software for my phone.
June 24th, 2006 at 6:59 pm
@charlie: Unfortunately ripping of the software is not that easy. Besides that, I’ll be in trouble if I post the software somewhere on the Internet…
I think the easiest way for you just go to Nokia Service Center and ask them to reflash your device.
June 25th, 2006 at 11:35 am
im pretty sure theres no nokia service centers around me, or any in the usa that i know of. you dont have to post it anywhere public, we can keep it a secret
June 26th, 2006 at 6:59 pm
there is loads more s60 codes than this
June 27th, 2006 at 5:56 am
i have n70 mobile i want reset my life time duration.
June 28th, 2006 at 9:11 am
@cunt: I know that there are more S60 codes. The codes that I posted here are the ones that we usually need. I may post another blog that cover all other codes.
July 10th, 2006 at 5:38 pm
I recently got a second hand n80 for half the retail price at an outdoor sale. Now i’ve found it’s been blacklisted, It was most probleby stolen but that doesn’t change the fact it cost me $$$$. Can any1 help me with unblocking it as i’m completely gutted,I know it was my own fault and i should of known the price was too good to be true.
July 11th, 2006 at 7:57 am
@sam: What do you mean by ‘blacklisted’?
July 13th, 2006 at 2:43 pm
i have just recently perchased a nokia N80 on the “three” network (uk) and wanted to know if there is anyway to unlock it so that i can use other sims from different networks. thanks
July 13th, 2006 at 7:19 pm
@paz: You need to contact your network operator to unlock it. There are some services that offer SIM unlock too, but be careful because it may break the warranty.
July 13th, 2006 at 9:08 pm
any ideas on how to *change* the mac address?
July 13th, 2006 at 9:13 pm
@roy: That’s a very good question. From my understanding, it is like a mission impossible. Btw, why do you want to change the mac address? It might be possible by hacking the software driver that read the mac address to return a fake address. However, that might be very difficult in S60 3rd because of Platform Security from Symbian.
July 18th, 2006 at 5:17 am
is there any codex or software well anything that you can download that will allow the N80 to playback videos, mpgs, avi’s, divx, mov, mpeg… anything! its just that the file playback thats default is rubbish, thanks.
July 18th, 2006 at 9:18 am
@paz: Wow that’s a very good question. I am not aware of multi player that supports any formats.
I have been using SmartMovie (http://www.s60tips.com/2006/05/29/features-software-smartmovie/) that supports XviD and DivX.

V 3.0614.0.1
31-03-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (02)
And I need this put this phone to spanish version, what i can do?
Thanks
July 21st, 2006 at 8:01 pm
@matibar: Nokia 6630 is based on Symbian OS version 8.1a (and not 6.0). You cannot upgrade the operating system to different version. What you can do is update for bug fixes only.
July 21st, 2006 at 8:02 pm
@Fabian: Usually you can get Spanish variant from Nokia Center. I am not sure if you can do it in Spain (I asumme you can).

September 9th, 2006 at 4:21 am
This is an answer for message 3 from Sirul.
About the navigator, I could try it in an N92 and you do not miss a lot. It says position, speed and also the length in metres of your trip. The “navigator” shows only a compass and the direction you are heading to (in terms of cardinal points).
I heard that for the N80 (and maybe some other S60 3rd edition phones) the navigator gets activated if you connect to Nokia’s GPS (which is pretty expensive, for my taste).
So I think that the best option would be buying a real navigation software for S60.
September 9th, 2006 at 8:33 am
@Jay: In which mode you connect your phone to the PC? If you connect it in PC Suite mode, the phone will not go to offline mode. It will go to offline mode if you connect it in Media Player, Mass Storage or PictBridge mode.
September 9th, 2006 at 8:34 am
@Jay (#44): Also try to reset your phone to the default factory setting (by pressing *#7370#). Perhaps it helps.
September 28th, 2006 at 2:39 pm
i have nokia 6630 and i want to know the life time of it. i need the secret. please help me
September 28th, 2006 at 9:08 pm
@ahmed: Please look at this posting to get lifetime of your phone, http://www.s60tips.com/2006/08/11/some-more-secret-codes-for-s60-phones/. Basically you have to press *#92702689#.
September 29th, 2006 at 3:46 am
i try this secret and it failed, please i want another secret
September 29th, 2006 at 1:52 pm
Thanks Alot I’m sorry, this secret successed but it give me the life time only. Do you know another secret that show the all informaion of this mobile such as: serial number and others
and thanks
September 29th, 2006 at 4:20 pm
@ahmed: What do you mean by serial number? Is it IMEI number? You can retrieve it using *#06#.
October 27th, 2006 at 11:47 am
please tell me how to restore my phone (nokia-6630) default font size and style which was changed during the installation of an application. i have tried backup, reset codes none have work.
October 28th, 2006 at 9:23 am
@sunny arora: Normally pressing *#7370# will reset your phone to the default font size and style. I think this works in Nokia 6630 too.
November 1st, 2006 at 3:08 am
How to reset all nokia mobiles lifetimer?
November 1st, 2006 at 9:47 pm
My n80 continues to ask for code (12345) when I attempt to restore (*#7370#) to factory settings. Is there another code? I try to update my N80 by PC but the Nokia Updater seem to hang when it downloads 46.3MB out of 73.2MB, as well. This is becoming aggravating to say the least. Any suggestions? I live in the states.
November 1st, 2006 at 10:01 pm
@Robert: The code 12345 is the default one. It can be changed to whatever we want. Did you by any chance change the default code accidentally?
November 20th, 2006 at 6:09 am
Hi!
I have a Nokia 3250. It’s symbian 9.1, S60 3rd edition. I changed its default lock code and have forgot the changed code. Can I reset it to default code (12345) again?
November 26th, 2006 at 11:38 am
hy to all.
I bought a nokia n70. i need to Decode sim. I have downlaoded some keygenerator for Nokia here is my IME:357968001577474
code:0529404
FCCID: QFXRM-84
IC:661Z-RM84
#pw+755237078704873+1#
#pw+980935705426622+2#
#pw+885992692519605+3#
But is not work….
how can i make that my phone work?
i have Orange, in Romania
Can i ( somebody) Resoft? to install in my phone new Soft( mobile windows :?) ore somethink what can i do?
November 26th, 2006 at 11:40 am
@roland: I don’t think you can install Windows Mobile on your Nokia phone. It supports Symbian OS only.
November 26th, 2006 at 11:48 am
ok then install symbian somethink that work, with my Orange card
November 26th, 2006 at 11:56 am
@roland: From my understanding, you want to SIM unlock your phone, do you? If this is the case, I am afraid you have to go your operator (Orange) and ask for unlock code. There may be some unlock code generator out there, but be careful, it may break your warranty.
If you just want to upgrade your operating system, you can try Nokia Software Updater (http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate).
December 4th, 2006 at 7:43 am
I have got a Nokia N70, whoch i recently updated the software on, but for some reason now it is asking for the Memory Card Password which i don’t know because i have never set one. Would you know the default password?
Cheers for any help,
December 4th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
@Alex: Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no default password for memory card. What you can do is reformatting the memory card.
December 6th, 2006 at 3:46 am
*3370# this code activate spare (built-in) bateri in your Nokia,
thats the usefull think when you got low battery and need to make an emergency call. It will boost your phone batery for aprx. 50 percent
December 6th, 2006 at 8:33 am
@Ernis: Does the code (*#3370#) work in every S60 phones? I’ve tried in my Nokia N73, and seems not working.
December 14th, 2006 at 4:39 am
@Roland: I’m afraid that Orange (Romania) will not supply some unlock key for your mobile phone. If you don’t have some connection with the service guys from Orange that can help you, maybe you can try on the black market, because normally all this kind of operators have a lots of useful software but is not public.
I try to unlock my mobile phone (N 6680) to Vodafone (Romania) and I was refused. I try to explain them (documents and bills) that my phone belongs to me, is not stolen and the monthly subscription for this phone was finished successfully for them.
P.S. I also try to find the unlock key.

hi i have a nokia 6111 and i dnt know my PUk code please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 16th, 2006 at 1:33 pm

December 20th, 2006 at 5:40 pm

how to format my N-Gage QD fully without data cable ?
December 23rd, 2006 at 9:33 am
@asim: You should be able to use “*#7370#” combination keys to format your N-Gage QD. It doesn’t require data cable either.
December 26th, 2006 at 4:20 am
PLZ HELP I BLOCKED MY PIN TRYING TO CHANGE IT TO KEEP MY PHONE SAFE AND NOW I AVE TO ENTER A PUK CODE BUT I WASN’T GIVEN ONE BY THE TESCO PEOPLE PLZ SOME1 HELP I ONLY GOT IT 4 XMAS?
December 26th, 2006 at 9:34 am
@Lottie: I am not sure with your network operator. However, my operator gave me PUK in a paper. I think you should ask your operator about your PUK. Hope they can help you.
December 31st, 2006 at 1:27 pm
hi, is there any code that we can use to access the NAM menu of an N70 unit? the known code *3001#12345# seem to be not working with a s60 model… thanks!
January 1st, 2007 at 5:55 am
the lifetime code seems to display the call time used on the phone (not sure whether it is just dialled numbers or dialled and received)
It is in the format
hhhhhh:mm
for hours and minutes.
I am guessing that when you got 000000:02, your phone was almost new???
January 1st, 2007 at 11:49 am
@davehx: You’re right. When I capture the screenshot, the phone is still relatively new. Besides that, I rarely make a phone call with that phone (I usually use my other phone).
January 3rd, 2007 at 5:16 am
Pls help me.. I have a n70 that is sim-locked to one of our local cell network, does anyone knows how to unlock it? pls help.. thanks in advance…
January 3rd, 2007 at 8:55 pm
@Sean: As I mentioned several times in the comments above, please contact your network operator to unlock your SIM.
Unlocking the SIM card is not as easy as just entering a “general secret” number. Each SIM has different unlock code.
January 14th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
Hi, I have a Nokia N80 (don’t know the software version) and the screen has gone completely black… I can receive calls, and everything seems to work, except from the display! I’ve tried the different reset codes posted here, but nothing seems to help! Can someone help me fix this? I don’t really want to have to send my phone in for service! Is there anything I can do?
January 14th, 2007 at 12:21 pm
@Sindre: In my opinion, there is something wrong with the display (the hardware). It seems not related software. I am afraid you have to bring it to Nokia service center.
January 19th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
how can i find my pin code for my memory card as ive put it in new phone and cant remember it
January 19th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
@mark: For memory card’s password, please read the discussion on my other posting, http://www.s60tips.com/2006/12/04/how-to-unlock-password-protected-memory-card/.
January 23rd, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Hello. Could someone help, please?
Due to software updating and memory card formatting on my Nokia N80 i have lost applications like AirAlbum, Sudoku, different languages etc. Does anyone know if it is possible to get this data and where?
January 23rd, 2007 at 6:02 pm
@Stan: Unfortunately if you do software update, your data will be erased. One way to prevent this is by backing up your phone before doing software update. But it’s too late now.
January 24th, 2007 at 9:00 am
Yes, unfortunately it is too late now. I have not made back up copy. The only thing i miss now is russian language, I could live without AirAlbum and Sudoku… but I guess there is no way to get it back now.
February 3rd, 2007 at 6:09 pm
Hi, my N70 was purchased on Dubai and was meant for the German market. My version of the OS is:
V 5.0638.3.0.1
18-09-06
RM-84
The problem is:
- It cannot display Chinese characters especially when I receive SMS and download music with titles in Chinese DBCS
Can I:
- Add language to the OS
- Do it myself instead of sending it to a service centre?
Regards
CW Wong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
February 3rd, 2007 at 6:18 pm
@CW Wong: Unfortunately it is not possible to add language, unless you reflash the phone. Try to bring the phone to Nokia Care Center. Hope they can help you reflash with English/Chinese variant.
February 15th, 2007 at 8:38 am
Hi You all!!!!!!!!
I have one query regarding the password of Nokia N91E.
I have forgotten the phonelock code. What can we do now to unlock it now.
I\’ll be very pleased if anyone infrom me about the same.
February 15th, 2007 at 9:17 am
@Azam: My only suggestion is try using Call key (Green key) + * key + 3 key + power button (http://www.s60tips.com/2006/08/11/some-more-secret-codes-for-s60-phones/)

Hi so these are the steps for unlocking Nokia N80 locked to Orange UK:
1.) buy phone
2.) buy Orange sim (£1 online)
3.) register imei with sim by calling 08000790006
4.) wait for phone to activate
5.) call orange on 450 or 07973100450 go through the options till you get through to customer services. I found that options 2, 2, 2, 2 was the easiest way to speak to a human.
6.) Request unlock code
7.) upload £20 to prepaid balance
8.) Wait few days for code
I found this posted here: http://www.eurogamer.net/forum_thread_posts.php?thread_id=72472&category_id=29&forum_id=1
and didn\\\’t try it yet.
My question is would this be possible to be done fron Bulgaria, we don\\\’t have Orange here. I have friend in London and he will send me SIM card, but can I activate it from Bulgaria, and how can I upload 20 pounds to the balance from here? Anybody done this from outside UK?

my nokia phone n70 is dropped after network is not working
February 25th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Hi guys!
Coming back to the discussion of software versions Nokia N80-RM92 and -RM91, which only differ in the UMTS frequency operator (as far as I can see). Do know if it would be possible to upgrade an RM92 (Europe) to an RM91 (USA) and get the UMTS network working???
February 25th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
@jaSalta: I don’t think it is possible to change the UMTS frequency because of hardware may be different.

Thanks for the quick response! Are you sure is that true? I heard that with some other Nokias some missing GSM-bands can be recovered by flashing the mobile. Any idea is the same holds for this type of phones?
By the way, is there (or is going to be) any bi-band UMTS Symbiam-smartphone (with both 1900 and 2100MHz bands for WCDMA)?

Hi antony, how can we find the area name ( location name ) in 3rd edition? is it possible?
March 3rd, 2007 at 11:19 am
@patel: What do you mean by location name? Do you want to do it programmatically?
March 4th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
yes, i have already done that in 2nd edition using 3rd party api , but i heard that this 3rd party api does not work in 3rd edition, i searched CTelephony but i cannot find any method for fetching location name ( area name ) which comes in the CBM ( cell broadcast message ).
Thanks.

March 6th, 2007 at 9:26 am
@kaleem: Note that you won’t be able to make any phone call in offline mode because. The offline mode there is no radio receiver/transmitter at all. You should switch to General or Silent mode to make a phone call.
March 7th, 2007 at 9:30 pm
dear
u cant understand my question when i change its mode from offline to general mode, it prompts a message insert sim card, i cant recive or make any call, please tell me wats the problem
regards
kaleem ullah bilal
March 7th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
@kaleem: Sometimes it is because of contact problem between the SIM and the phone. Try to remove the SIM card and clean it. After that, try to insert it again. If it doesn’t help, then just bring your SIM card to your operator.

Hello! I have a Nokia N70 and it was locked on T-Mobile UK network. T-Mobile sent me the unlock codes but I put it 3 times wrong and now it says “not allowed”. How can I fix this? Thanks!
March 28th, 2007 at 7:58 am
@Stavros: I think you have to contact T-Mobile again. They may have the second PUK to unlock your SIM card. If you put it wrong again, then you may have to change your SIM card.
March 28th, 2007 at 12:33 pm
Dude, my simcard is not locked. My phone is. I entered the unlock code from T-mobile to the phone to unlock it in order to use it with other simcards. the code looked something like +pw+19827691283+1… I entered this 3 times and it wont let me enter it again. how do I reset these attempts?

April 12th, 2007 at 10:25 am
Hi everybody.
Somebody knows if you can do a reverse Flashing from version 3 to version 2?
I know, you think this guy is crazy, hehehe, but his happen because I live in Costa Rica, and here our telephone company (only one = monopoly) can connect to her services only version 2, but I made a update directly from Nokia website and they update my E61 phone to version 3.
Can I put the version 2?
Can I crack the number when you do *#0000# and only change this number?
Because I now the version 3 is better that 2, but this company doesn\’t accept.
Thank you for your replies…
